Beacon GIVES
Beacon GIVES
Beacon GIVES is more than just a fundraising event, it is part of our school’s Values In Action (VIA) programme, a service-learning opportunity where our students go through the process of researching various charities, making informed decisions on which organizations to support, and working together as a class to raise funds through creativity and teamwork.
This initiative allows students to display their:
-
G – Generosity
Students are empowered to give back to the less fortunate by engaging in meaningful charitable activities and fundraising efforts. -
I – Innovation
Encouraging creativity and resourcefulness through upcycling, entrepreneurship, and problem-solving initiatives that benefit society. -
V – Volunteerism
Instilling a spirit of service by actively involving students in researching, selecting, and supporting charitable organizations through hands-on participation. -
E – Empathy
Cultivating compassion by helping students understand the struggles of others and inspiring them to make a positive impact in their community. -
S – Sportsmanship
Fostering teamwork, collaboration, and class bonding through shared responsibilities, mutual support, and ethical decision-making in all activities.

Beacon GIVES provides a platform for our Primary 6 to engage in a Student-initiated effort to give back. They take charge of planning, organizing, and executing the event. Through this initiative, they learn entrepreneurial skills, teamwork, and social responsibility as they:
-
Research and adopt a charity as a class
-
Create handmade crafts and upcycled items to sell
-
Curate a collection of pre-loved items for sale
-
Set up engaging game booths to attract visitors
-
Promote their booths through creating a website where they have to curate digital content and promotion video and encourage participation from all the students
This meaningful fundraising event empowers our students to show empathy, take initiative, and make a difference in the lives of the less fortunate. In addition, the hands-on experience nurtures the values of generosity, empathy, volunteerism, and innovation while strengthening class spirit and sportsmanship.
