The Science department in Beacon seeks to nurture the student as an inquirer. The starting point is that children are curious about and want to explore the things around them. To spark the joy of learning for science, the science program leverages on and seeks to fuel this spirit of curiosity through experiential learning via hands-on activities. The end goal is students who enjoy science and value science as an important tool in helping them explore their natural and physical world.
Experiential learning can take place both within school and outside school. Within the school, experiential learning is enabled through our learning spaces which includes science laboratories, Eco Pond and the Garden. We also hold our yearly science fair in which students conduct their own experiment and present their findings. Science learning also takes place outside the school as pupils visit Singapore Science Centre or nature parks such as Sungei Buloh Wetland.
